Yorkshire Trading Company, Leek
A few months after Penny Mayes took this picture Image of the former Woolworths store in Leek it re-opened as the Yorkshire Trading Company. This company are based in Driffield, Yorkshire and appear to be expanding by taking over quite a few of the old "Woolies" stores. Their range of stock is very similar to Woolworths with reasonable prices.

St Edwards Street, Leek
Looking towards the junction at the northern end of St Edwards Street. On the left of the photo is St Edward's Church (mostly 14th-century). The centre of the photo shows no. 19/21 St Edwards Street, which is unoccupied. The entrance of this interesting building has an unusual portico; elsewhere, the front seems to be in a poor state. There are plans to renovate the building.

An interesting building on the corner of St Edwards Street and High Street. The corner shop has been a carpet shop for several years. The town's main post office used to be the modern building on the left of the photo; the main post office moved elsewhere several years ago.
