Ash Almshouses, Leek
Grade II listed almshouses on Broad Street. On the gable end is an inscription - "The gift of Elizabeth Ash, the eldest daughter of William Jolliffe".
"An almshouse, for eight poor widows, was endowed in the year 1696, by Elizabeth Ash, widow, of this town. Each widow is allowed two shillings per week, fuel, and a new gown once in two years." (from "A Topographical History of Staffordshire" by William Pitt)

Almshouses, Leek
Crossroads with traffic lights at the southern end of St Edwards Street, in early morning sunshine. On the left is part of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church. In the centre are the Ash Almshouses, Grade II listed. They were endowed in 1676 by Elizabeth Ashe, a widow, who was a daughter of William Joliffe, a wealthy wool merchant in the town.

Old Milestone by the A53, Ash Almshouses, Broad Street, Leek
Carved stone plaque by the A53, in parish of LEEK (STAFFORDSHIRE MOORLANDS District), Ash Almshouses, Broad Street, by the road, on South side of road. Stone carving, erected by the Newcastle under Lyme & Leek turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-
