Canvey Lake & houses in Lakeview
Canvey Lake is said to be what remains of an old creek that once flowed through and around the five islets which originally made up what was once Cana Island. The lake is a curved and narrow stretch of brackish (slightly salty) water three-quarters of a mile in length. Over the years it has been a nature reserve. Canvey being the densely populated place it is, the lake is bounded on both its sides by houses.

Winter Gardens pumping station, Canvey Island
Winter Gardens is one of the three pumping stations controlling levels in Canvey Lake and its associated watercourses. The other two are Rainbow (at the east end of the lake) and Hilton Image The houses opposite are in Hilton Road.
