This is the entrance to the gardens from the Hockley Road. I believe the gardens were part of Brooklands House which is now a retirement home.

Old Milestone by the B1013, Hockley Road, Rayleigh parish
Carved stone post by the B1013, in parish of RAYLEIGH (ROCHFORD District), in garden of Sweyne Court, Hockley Road, by the road, on Southeast side of road. Erected by the Rochford Hundred (Div of Essex First Dist) turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-
