This footpath is part of the access road into Vicarage Farm, Hockley

This is Northwood “meditation woodland”. It is a shrine dedicated to Tenzin Gyatso the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. It was dedicated in 2004. It really is a delightful spot with a spectacular Image you can see the Image here

Of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, rear of church

This is the grave of Alexander Zass in the Churchyard of St Peter & St Paul Church in Hockley. He was known as ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ Alexander Zass was born in Vilnus, Poland, before becoming a circus actor, professional wrestler and strongman. In 1914, he was taken prisoner by the Austrian forces while serving in the Russian Army during the First World War, but escaped. Zass, who died aged 74, possessed tremendous strength that allowed him to break chains, bend iron bars and even carry a horse on his shoulders. His best-known circus act was catching a 90kg cannon ball shot by a special cannon. He spent his retirement in Hockley. The inscription which is in Russian & English reads: Alexander Zass [Samson] The Worlds Strongest Man Died 26th Sept 1962. Aged 79 A mystery emerges. It is recorded that he was born in 1888 and died in 1962. This means he was 74 when he died.

This footpath starts in Church Road and goes past Vicarage Farm, then goes in two different directions.
