Commemorative plaque
As per the plaque's description. Located on Ashingdon Road. The plaque is located at the junction of Nansen Avenue and Ashingdon Road and commemorates the help given to us by the Norwegian people who raised and donated money to allow new houses to be built to accommodate those affected by the flood of January 1953. Nansen Avenue was presumably named after the famous 19th century Norwegian explorer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Fridtjof Nansen in honour of the aid Norway provided.
