St Mary the Virgin Little Wakering
St Mary the Virgin Little Wakering has an 11th Century nave with a tower built in 1416. Methinks there must have been some keeping up with the Jones’s between the parishes in medieval times, All Saints Barling Image gained its tower about the same time.

St. Mary the Virgin, Little Wakering, Essex
Situated between Barling and Little Wakering junction, this church dates back to the 11th century. It is overlooked by a row of cottages and the Castle Inn. See my other two photographs of this church.

Iron post at St Mary the Virgin, Little Wakering
The letters 'ST B H' can be discerned on what was described to me as a boundary post which was recently moved to the churchyard from a nearby site further to the south off Little Wakering Road. The letters stand for 'St Bartholomew's Hospital' which was the patron of the ecclesiastical living here in times past.
