Dry Street Memorial Church
An interdenominational church actually a little way off Dry Street on One Tree Hill (road), although Dry Street is a place as well as a road. It was built in 1931, but with roots in earlier Methodist congregations in the area. There is apparently a stone inside inscribed “This church is the gift of T W Cook, Esq. Of Leigh on Sea and was opened on October 3rd 1931, as a thank offering to God for many years’ service amongst the boys and girls of Shoreditch, London.” The 'Memorial' part of its name is apparently a memorial to Mr Cook at his own instigation whilst he was still alive.
