The Halfway House, Thorpe Bay
There was a Halfway House here in late Victorian times, if not earlier, but this building seems later than that. There was no housing development along this stretch of coast then, the railway had not been extended any further east than Southend. The pub is roughly halfway between Southend and Shoebury.
