London bus in Southend
Photographed opposite the Kursaal in Southchurch Avenue. On Tuesdays and Thursdays during August London General's route 575 is extended to make a single return journey between Harlow and Southend. Here twelve-year old PVL 223 is about to return to Harlow with around sixty passengers aboard.

Kursaal
Very famous Southend-on-Sea building. Live bands used to play here in the 50s and 60s. It is famed for its Wall of Death riders which some people want brought back. Now it is a bowling alley. Note Ronald McDonald on the right.

The Kursaal, Southend-on-Sea
The Kursaal, opened in 1894, claims to be the world's oldest theme park. Following WW2 the Kursaal helped Southend become the day trip magnet for London pleasure seekers. The amusement park closed in 1986 and the attractions were relocated next to the pier.
