Southend-on-Sea: Chinchilla Road looking North Northeast 2008
This is a view from the junction at the lower end of the road with my back to the railway line that runs between London Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness. These terraced houses are typical of those built in the late nineteenth century. I was brought up in this street until I married in my early twenties. These properties are not the smallest of their type and all benefit from a hallway and two or three bedrooms. Most back gardens are about twenty five feet long with an alley at the end.

Southend-on-Sea Alleyway between Dalmatia Road and Chinchilla Road looking North North-West
A typical back alley between two streets of terraced houses. Most of the properties in this area are late Victorian two- and three-bedroomed small terraced houses. I grew up in a three-bed house in one of these streets, the house being built in 1897.
