Hawthorn Coking Works, Murton
Disused 1950s vintage coke works. The battery, seen here, was on the opposite side of the road to the boosters and exhausters and I believe that drops them one grid square south. The coal bunker is extreme left and the gas mains cross the road to the right. The coke pusher is centre below the chimney. The chimney acts as the exhaust for the battery heating as the ovens are externally heated to carbonise the coal.
