Sandy Balls Holiday Centre
The centre’s name has a long history – it can be traced as far back as the reign of Henry VII when it appeared on maps and documents as ‘SandyBallas’ - a description given to the double shaped sand and gravel outcrops close by. The name also appears in the book of Rude Britain.

Godshill: postbox № SP6 322
This postbox is the westernmost one of the three in Godshill and stands outside the entrance to the Sandy Balls campsite, a name which is the subject of much childhood humour. Of course, if the intended meaning was the humorous one, the sign would say "...Welcome you" rather than "...Welcomes you". The postbox is emptied finally at 4:30pm on weekdays and at 10:30am on Saturdays.
