Fordingbridge: ghost sign on Church Street
The word STORES and the additional information, Provisions and Wines, are the only legible words today, on this painted shop sign. See Image for a wider view.

Ghost signs, Fordingbridge
See Image; I can help with the (incomplete) middle word "PROVISIONS", and the lower is probably "WINES". Perhaps the upper red letters, of which only the lower half is visible, denote the name of the firm. The three central ones could be "FOR" - or a few other combinations. Most of the fabric of the building is across a grid line, but not this wall. Anyway, it's nice brickwork. In the foreground is the Ashford Water; I'm standing on the bridge that carries the B3108 over it.

Fordingbridge: The Quadrant almshouses
These almshouses form a quarter-circle, as their name suggests. The stone in the centre reads: Presented by Reginald Hannen to the Parish Council 1919 as Almshouses in memory of John Hannen and of the glorious peace of 1919.

Fordingbridge: crossing Knowles Bridge
Provost Street becomes Church Street as it crosses a minor tributary of the River Avon. The remains of a painted sign on the left-hand house tell us that it was once a shop.
