George Inn and Avon Bridge, Fordingbridge, Hampshire.
This splendid stone bridge across the River Avon was photographed in 1951, when it still carried the A338 trunk road. However, a bypass with a new bridge has been constructed to the east, so that the bridge is again much quieter. If anyone is contemplating a visit to Fordingbridge, they may like to know that the George Inn, seen here across the river, is still open and serving excellent beer as indeed it did in 1951.
