Cottage doorway, Haxton
Not sure whether this counts as Haxton or as Fittleton - the string of villages along the Avon valley tend to merge into one another.

Thatched cottage: 'The Green Vine'
Brick-built with flint bands - typical of villages along the Salisbury Avon. According to local sources, the cottage used to be an inn - the 'Green Dragon'.

Brick and flint at Haxton
Detail of a cottage http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4955137 across the road from Fittleton Manor. I like the jaunty paintwork! Looking more closely at the brickwork, I notice that blue headers are used in the courses of Flemish bond above the window. There are traces of blue lower down - perhaps the blue surface of the brick gets abraded during re-pointing. It seems possible that, when new, the brickwork was chequered throughout. See my notes on a (not very attractive) wall in Buckinghamshire: Image
