Sign for the Stonehenge Inn
The most important prehistoric monument in Britain. The stones are thought to have been erected about 3,500 years ago. Stonehenge takes its name from the stones which 'hang' between upright stones. The use of which Stonehenge was put is still something of a mystery, though it is probable that it was for some kind of sun-worship.

Durrington Walls [1]
Seen from close to Woodhenge is the 'walls' of the henge monument - the eroded remains of the inner slope of the bank and the outer slope of the internal ditch. Durrington Walls was a large Neolithic settlement with a later henge enclosure of some 1,600 feet (500 metres) diameter. The Walls, Woodhenge, a round barrow cemetery, two additional round barrows and four settlements are part of a Scheduled Ancient Monument and there is much detail at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1009133
