Old King Barrows overlook the Stonehenge area about a mile to the west. This sign is old, showing that they must have been a popular destination from Countess soon after the Larkhill railway was converted to a bridleway between the first and second world wars.

Track to Countess
The railway from Larkhill would have run to the left, and this was the walking route from Old King Barrows to Countess. Nowadays people tend to use the old railway line.
