Ansty: the old preceptory
A large, distinctive stone building by the church, built in 1596. The Knights Hospitallers had founded a commandery, or preceptory, in 1211 and this is thought to be a replacement building from that time, probably used as a banqueting hall. A fire destroyed the roof in 1922 but the building was reconstructed in 2001.
