Now a detached house, Primrose Farmhouse in Short Lane was built in the 17th century. Constructed of rubble stone under a half-hipped thatch roof. The Old Cottage, Mount Lane, was built in the 17th century. Constructed of painted dressed limestone under a thatch roof, half hipped to the left and hipped to the right. Barford St Martin houses [19]
Little Orchard in Short Lane, built gable end to the street, is a rare surviving cruck-built hall house. Built in the 15th century, it was originally timber framed and remodelled in the late 16th or early 17th century and again altered in the 18th century. Constructed of dressed limestone with some brick and some timber framing retained to the rear, all under a thatch roof, with brick stacks. The three bays to the right were formerly open to roof with smoke-blackened timbers and open trusses. There are many early interior features surviving.
