Stoneham War Shrine
After removal of surrounding Beech trees. For a similar view before the felling, see Image The substantial trees shown in that earlier photo were originally a hedge around the shrine, which was built in 1917. Lakes in Avenue Park
Avenue Park, a part of North Stoneham Park, was landscaped in the 18th century by 'Capability' Brown. The former estate and nearby areas now are dominated by the M3 motorway, golf courses, numerous playing fields, a school and a college, and housing.
