Bolderwood cottage, New Forest
Set within Bolderwood Grounds is this enclosed private land belonging to Bolderwood Cottage. The nearby Mark Ash wood was used as a "Sherwood Forest" location during the filming of "Robin Hood: Prince of thieves" in 1990, and this field was a base camp for the film crew.

Forest scenery with redwoods, Bolderwood
Redwoods have been planted all along the west side of the road south of the Bolderwood car park, with others deeper into the wood. The species - I believe - is the Coast Redwood, Sequoia sempervirens (native, of course, to the Pacific coast of N. America). At short range the sequoia is easily recognised by its shaggy red bark and massive tapering trunk. At long range (seen, for instance, from high up on Acres Down) their tops make a distinctive contribution to the skyline. Mighty trees, and impressive at any distance!
