The Huntsman
The Itchen Valley Way runs along the hedgerow behind. In this field this is the last remaining of a series of statues exhibited by artist Miranda Michels, former joint-master of the Radnor and West Herefordshire hunt. The sculpture is carved from hammered and welded stainless and corten weathering steel. I particularly like the rusted steel making up the huntsman's jacket. The artist used this to raise awareness of the campaign to repeal the ban on hunting legislation, and from a temporary exhibition here this has now become a permanent exhibit.
