New housing under construction, Challow Station
The derelict pub seen here in 2005 Image and which was derelict as far back as 1999 to my personal knowledge, has now vanished completely and what I assume are new dwellings are being built. The work must have started fairly recently as the pub is still visible on Google Earth for the time being at any rate http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=http:%2F%2Fwww.geograph.org.uk%2Fphoto%2F82284.kml&ie=UTF8&ll=51.613646,-1.489506&spn=0.059693,0.181789&t=h&z=13&layer=c&cbll=51.613723,-1.489666&panoid=4lxGTeTN0s6bo-V6MYj4cA&cbp=12,237.37,,0,0.79

Challow railway station (site), Oxfordshire
Opened in 1840 by the Great Western Railway on the line from Reading to Swindon, this station closed to passengers in 1964 and completely in 1965. After quadrupling, the two platforms were parallel to the outside tracks - see Image View west towards Uffington and Swindon, a few years before the line was electrified.

Railway electrification work near Challow Station, Oxon
Masts have been erected here in connection with the electrification of the railway mainline from London Paddington to Bristol. The masts will carry the overhead power lines and will allow the use of high speed electric trains. The section from Chippenham to Bath & Bristol seems to be on hold at present but the situation may alter as Governments and policies change over time. There are four rail tracks here.
