At the junction of Cricklade Road. I have no idea either how to pronounce Wrde or where it comes from.

Highworth: Wrde Hill sign
This might pass as a pronounceable word in Welsh, but it does look rather out of place in a Wiltshire suburb. The explanation is that Highworth was 'Wrde' in the Domesday Book - presumably morphing into the 'worth' bit of the present-day name.

Entrance to Highworth Golf Centre, Swindon Road, Highworth
Highworth Golf Centre is run by Swindon Council. Situated on the outskirts of Highworth, it is designed to cater for all standards of play, and features wide fairways, large greens and short rough, whilst he four-hole practice course and nine-hole pitch and putt course are suited to beginners and families. The club house contains a pro shop.
