A Grade II listed building, dating from the late 18th century, but altered over the years. For a very long period it was The Fishes Inn, a very well-known Highworth pub. Today it is Tamarind, an Indian Restaurant. It is a shame that Highworth has lost another of its pubs, but at least it has been retained for business use, rather than turned into a private house. That would have very likely been its fate, if it had been in one of the little towns or villages in the nearby parts of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. Next door, on the right, is Body Graffix Tattoo Studio.

Now a restaurant, number 10 Swindon Street is the former Fishes Inn. The building is late 18th century although the bay windows are Edwardian. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1023381

The pink painted building is Hayward House, a Grade II listed building, dating from around the late 17th century/early 18th century. It has been in use as a bed and breakfast since 1983. This may not necessarily continue, as in March 2011 the property was up for sale. It has an interesting history having originally been two houses. For some time up to about 1902, an outbuilding at the back was used as a pub or inn called The Three Cups. Then for about a quarter of a century this was used as a bakehouse. Afterwards, until 1969, the main building was a garage, and for some of the period, the outbuilding was used as a bicycle repair shop. Next the buildings were used to manufacture and sell sculptures. In the mid-1970's it reverted to a private house.
