WWII Wiltshire: shellproof pillboxes of Lydiard Green (Lydiard Millicent) - Pillbox #5
- Pillbox - shellproof (type FW3/28A): DoB ID: S0011911 This pillbox has also been raised over a foot above the ground on a solid raft of concrete. Like most here, the opening of the gun position has now been blocked off, presumably to prevent farm animals from venturing inside, and also to facilitate its conversion to a storage space. Image

WWII Wiltshire: shellproof pillboxes of Lydiard Green (Lydiard Millicent) - Pillbox #5
- Pillbox - shellproof (type FW3/28A): DoB ID: S0011911 To the left of the blocked embrasure of the gun emplacement, is the front facing loophole of the separate chamber. This annex also contained two other infantry positions covering the left hand side and the rear. The single infantry loop on the right hand side was the only infantry position in the original type 28 before the type 28A was introduced. Its introduction enabled infantry to provide all round covering fire. Image
