Railway to the West Country, Royal Wootton Bassett
This is Isambard Kingdom Brunel's signature railway running from London Paddington, behind the viewpoint, to Bristol. The line is due to be electrified and has much of the infrastructure in place for that but, at the time this photo was taken, the system had not been connected to the power supply.

Rubble, Beaufort Arms, Wootton Bassett
The pub was torched in September 2009, just over a year before this photo was taken. Either somewhat half-hearted attempts have been made to demolish the pub or it has collapsed in on itself. There is no evidence that any change in the position will occur anytime soon. There are gaps in the temporary fence around the site.
