Site of University of Bath in Swindon, Marlowe Avenue, Swindon
In 1960 on this site a brand new grammar school opened called Park Grammar School. It became a comprehensive in the mid 1960s called variously Park Senior High, Park School and Oakfield. It closed in 2000 and was then re-opened as an outpost of the University of Bath. They closed their operations here in 2008 and the building remained empty until it was demolished recently so that business rates could be avoided. See Image for a wider view. Detail, west elevation, Big Yellow Self Storage Co. Drakes Way, Swindon
This building is a modern one opened only in the last two or three years. The cladding is probably powder-coated steel and it has concealed rainwater gutters. Personally, I love the colour.

Former EMI CD factory, Penny Lane, Swindon
EMI had several operations in Swindon at one time. This plant was built by them in the 1990s to replace a smaller factory in Greenbridge. Then they found that it was cheaper to manufacture CDs in Holland so they closed the factory about six years ago. It has recently been sold to a car retailer. The name 'Penny Lane' is derived from a song by a now defunct pop group.
