Pinehurst is predominantly an area of pre-1939 council housing. Hawthorn Avenue is fairly typical of the three bedroomed semi-detached and terraced houses to be found there although there are some bungalows as well.

Public open space, Pinehurst, Swindon
The open space lies at the southern end of Hawthorn Avenue and east of Pinehurst Road, where the houses are. The area was developed in the inter-war years as a council housing estate. Ornithologists everywhere will wish they had been there this day to witness a rare appearance of Columba palumbus.
