Swindon Locomotive Depot, 1950
View northward, on a fine June Sunday, during a memorable RCTS Visit to the Works etc. A variety of ex-GWR locomotive classes are seen, also an ex-WD 2-8-0 on the right. Facing are 'Saint' 4-6-0 No. 2934 'Butleigh Court' and 61XX 2-6-2T No. 6123, both gleaming after a Works visit.

Preymesser Logistics building, Newcombe Drive
Alongside the giant warehouse of M. Preymesser Logistics, off Newcombe Drive, Hawksworth Trading Estate. Lorries are asked to "park short" and report to the office before driving up to the other end of the building to load/unload. I did not see the signs, and walked the whole length of the building looking for the office.

This ex-mainline Mk1 Brake Second Open originally carried the Capital Stock No.9258. It was converted to a Departmental Van for carrying spares between Depots. It is shown here in the scrap line at Swindon Works in 1986 and finally went for scrap at Bird's Scrap Yard, Long Marston in January 1987.

Class 59 Hauled Stone Train.
This train hauled by a Yeoman Class 59 Locomotive is seen passing Swindon Works in 1986. The success of these privately owned locomotives, led to the import of the ubiquitous Class 66 Locomotives used by EWS on the now privatised railways.
