The flag flies proudly
Plenty of spit and polish on this hotel. The original hotel was the Kings Arms (now known simply as the Kings) and the owner was a John Godwin in the 1830s; he was a miller and had a windmill at the rear of the building. Later the lease refers to all sorts of comestibles and stables on offer here. Following the raising of cash with a £1,000 mortgage it was extensively rebuilt in 1867; latterly it has been refurbished twice this century.

The Gay Pride 'Celebrating Freedom' parade and festival is an annual event. This is its 10th iteration. A salsa band precedes, inter alia, a Roman legionnaire. It took a while for me to make the connection between the event and the soldier. It's a fascinating tale https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2005/oct/28/theatre
