The tree on the far left looks like a paper-bark maple, next to it is a silver birch.

2008 : Greenway Lane
Looking south. This is effectively the end of the public road. The Cotswold Way comes through Cold Ashton to this spot, continues down the hill then on to Lansdown. A waymarker is on the post.

Field of cut grass above Hill Farm
The growth of grass has fairly recently been harvested. The A46 runs on the top of the far hill on its way to Bath.

Shepherd's hut at Hill Farm
To finish off my string of photos about our attempt at the Cotswold Way, here's a shot of our first (and as it turned out, only) night's accommodation. We packed camping kit - tent, sleeping bags, rollmats, cooking gear, the lot - and carried it for the first day's walking from Bath, but by the time we got here, ten miles later, both my wife and I realised that we weren't fit enough and regretfully decided to abort, swung by the promise of a lift back into Bath from the owners of the shepherd's hut! We had a nice relaxing evening here, helped along by a couple of bottles of beer and a bottle of red wine between us.
