Ridge Quarry
A Bath Stone quarry that was used during WW1 to store explosives. In the lead up to WW2 it was converted into a major ammunition storage depot, part of the Central Ammunition Depot that included nearby Tunnel Quarry and Monkton Farleigh. The RAF cleared the last bombs from Ridge in 1955 and the site was sold off by the MoD in 1975.

2008 : Victorian Post Box
At The Ridge, but it could be Monk's Park, the map below and OS Explorer 156 seem to be at variance.

2008 : Alpacas at Monks Park near Gastard
Interesting to note the difference in behaviour between these animals and sheep. Whereas sheep would usually flock together and be ready to run, alpacas stay in a group, lift their heads and stare until you are our of sight. Kept for their fine wool, I was told these females have been separated from the males while they give birth.

2008 : Monk's Park Mine near Gastard
One of a number of limestone mines and quarries in this area. There is a sign at the entrance claiming it is a quarry, OS Explorer 156 gives it as a mine. It could be a mine which has been opened up to be a quarry but I saw no evidence of this.
