Swindon Law Courts 1967
The newly constructed law courts seen from Princes Street. The terraced houses beyond must be in College Street or Gordon Road. One would guess that both these streets have now been obliterated by later development. Nice 3 litre Rover in the foreground.

Swindon Magistrates' Court, Gordon Road, Swindon
It wasn't clear why two police vehicles were parked as they were. Clients of the court from within the justice system who have been enjoying the hospitality of Her Majesty are normally chauffeured into the rear of the premises to avoid them having to walk too far. The building in the background was once the UK head office of Nationwide Building Society but are now private flats.

Woolworths, Edgware Road, Swindon
This is the same store as is seen in this image http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1102447 but from the other entrance. The store has been trading here many years - I can remember visiting it in the 1950s. It should have closed its doors for the last time today following the failure of the company after 90 years but will now close tomorrow. Woolworths originated in the USA as a 'five and dime' store. When they started trading in the UK 5 cents and 10 cents were converted to threepence (1.25p) and sixpence (2.5p). Everything was sold at one or other of those two prices.

Woolworths rear entrance, Edgware Road, Swindon
This was to have been the day these doors closed to shoppers for the last time following failure of the company after 90 years trading in the UK. This store has been given an additional 24 hours in order to de-stock as much as possible. It seems unlikely that the blown lights will be repaired in that time.

I have walked round the entire block on Streetview and am unable to find the entrance. Maybe it's secret.
