Canal Walk, Swindon
Taken from a close approximation to this image from 1967 by Gordon Hatton http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/862425 the failed attempt at modern sculpture has long gone. It was built of concrete blocks which soon turned green and the 'moat' around it generated hours of fun for anyone with a bottle of washing up liquid about their person. The area has been re-paved and trees planted. The other big change is the presence of the DMJ tower in the next square west which went up in the late 1970s.

Former Millets shop, and other vacant stores,The Parade, Swindon

There are two other closed-up shops in view.

Trees and The Parade, Swindon
Some years ago the birch trees provided roosts for numerous starlings and you walked beneath them at your peril. I haven't seen them in recent times. The tall building at the right is the 1970s David Murray John building.
