Fields by St. Joan a Gore Farm
East of the A360 between West Lavington and Tilshead. The name should really be St. John o Gore, or St. John a Gore, and is so named from a small chapel that was here in the 14th century. It was attached to a farmstead or very small settlement and dedicated to St. John. Excavation of the chapel in the late 19th century confirmed the tradition that it had been destroyed by fire. Gore is the name given to a wedge shaped piece of land, on which the farmstead stood.
