Number 78 High Street, Littleton Panell, was originally two cottages, now one. Constructed in the 17th century of brick under a thatch roof. The entrance is now via a porch under an extension of the roof at the rear. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1364592 Starting from the former Lavington railway station on the Reading to Taunton line, the walk heads south along the A360 road, which becomes Littleton Panell High Street. Turning northeast, the route is along Russell Mill Lane and the ensuing bridleway to Spin Hill. From the junction of Spin Hill and Ledge Hill, a bridleway leads back to the A360 road, which is then followed northwards to the starting point. Just over 2½ miles.

From the road at the side of the Catholic church, the path apsses into woodland on its way to Littleton Panell. West Lavington, along with Littleton Panell, form a nearly continuous line of ribbon development along the A360 Devizes to Salisbury road on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain. There is evidence of occupation in this area from late Neolithic or early Bronze Age times. The Dauntsey family owned land in the parish from at least 1474 and in 1542 William Dauntsey's bequest founded a school and almshouses.

From High Street, this footpath leads into a complex network of Rights of Way. It is just in the settlement of Littleton Panell, according to the signs rather unusually fixed to the direction signs for the junction. Maps suggest once it was, at least in part, the post office.
