HMP Downview
The site that can be seen across the fields is HMP Downview, a closed Women's Prison housed in the converted Nurses' Home of Banstead Hospital. Better focused images have been taken by both myself and others on later occasions - see Image and Image Taken from the London Loop footpath in Freedown Lane.

HMP Downview
Taken from Freedown Lane. The buildings here were originally accommodation for nurses but were converted into a facility for male prisoners when HMP Downview opened in 1989. Downview became a closed prison for adult women and young offenders in 2009.
