Memorial to Stanley Spencer in Cookham Graveyard
This memorial stone to painter Stanley Spencer and his first wife Hilda is by the path through the graveyard of Holy Trinity Church. He died in 1959, was cremated and his ashes were spread on this spot. His first wife Hilda is buried in the graveyard. This spot was chosen because it is where the approximate view of his most famous painting "The Resurrection, Cookham". See https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/spencer-the-resurrection-cookham-n04239 This is on the Thames Path National Trail and the route of the London Green Belt Way.
