When I started out on my afternoon's walk 'The Wind in the Willows' (written in Cookham) was far from my mind - but now and then I found myself looking at scenes which can't have changed much since Mr Toad's day.

Evening sky at Fleet Bridge, Cookham Moor
The skyline is dominated by an exotic conifer of some sort - a cedar, most likely - but the trees nearest the bridge are pollard willows - typical of this low-lying marshy area.

Fleet Bridge
A bridge carrying the old road from Cookham Dean to Cookham across the Fleet Ditch. It has since been bypassed and this is just for pedestrians and cyclists.

Fleet Bridge
This bridge was built in 1929 to replace earlier bridges that had been swept away in floods. However, the road from Cookham to Cookham Dean has not used this bridge for some time and it crosses Cookham Moor at a much lower level.
