Tom Brown Tailors : Eton
Tom Brown Tailors has operated a tailor shop in Eton since being founded in 1784. Originally the business started in Keats Lane but when the owner of the current building was sent to prison for debt the business was transferred to the current location.

Tom Brown Tailors, Eton
The business was established in 1784 and remains in the same premises today, number 1 High Street, Eton. The 18th century shop was much smaller than today, with the adjoining premises a bakery - Holderness the Bakers. It took on its present shape with rebuilding in 1865. Originally, Tom Brown Tailors made clothing exclusively for the boys of nearby Eton College. This service continues. In 2015, the bespoke tailoring business also has premises at 6 Sackville Street, London.

Tom Brown Tailors, 1-2 High Street, Eton
Founded in 1784, Tom Brown initially dealt exclusively with providing uniforms for the students at the Eton College and they continue to service this market today. John Denham of the History Group in his research tells us they first traded from Keats Lane, moved to 1 High Street in 1841 and expanded to no.2 in 1890. The current building is marked '1865' and apparently one fitting room has been kept exactly as it was prior to the rebuilding. This suggests they continued trading through the rebuilding. The last family member, Gerald Brown, passed away in early 2018. Prior to this the ownership had been transferred to David M. Coulthard an employee of the firm for over 50 years.
