Irish Guardsman Statue, Windsor High Street
The statue of an Irish Guardsman on High Street carries a plaque which is simply worded: "Dedicated to all Irish Guardsmen past, present and future Quis Separabit 2011" The 6ft tall bronze figure stands on a plinth at the junction of High Street and St Albans Street where it rises 15ft from the pavement. The figure, commissioned by the Irish Guards and sculpted by a former paratrooper Mark Jackson, has been cast in bronze salvaged from the Iraq war and the plinth is surrounded by cobbles from Afghanistan. The soldier is depicted wearing modern combat gear and Osprey body armour as used in Afghanistan. It was unveiled in June 2011 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-13908925 BBC News)
