Skyways Hotel, London Road
The name says it all. At little more than a 10km drive away from Heathrow Airport, the Skyways is a handy stop over for those catching an early flight.

St Bernard's Convent House, Slough
Big and Italianate, c1860, so still broadly Classical - regular and symmetric - but the details are all heavy - a deep cornice lending the building a brooding look and chunky details to the windows. It was built by Charles Aldin for himself. The chapel to the right was by Alfred Waterhouse, 1869, when this became a school, as it still is. Grade II listed. The date of the photo is uncertain.
