This public house (marked on the OS map) is opposite a large public car park for those walking in Burnham Beeches. A sign on the pub says "Wellies, walkers, dogs and families - all welcome here".

Path in East Burnham Common
Part of Burnham Beeches, where the Corporation of London has developed many routes for 'safe' walking. Thus, boardwalks over squelchy areas are quite common.

Burnham Beeches - birch, beech and holly
Walking through the woods from "The Stag" to here, many of the trees were oaks, with some large fir trees. Here they have changed to being a mixture of birch and beech. There are holly bushes under the trees in both areas.

Burnham Beeches
This massive old tree stump is about 12 feet high and must be the remains of an old tree that thrived here several hundreds of years ago. It can be found just to the east of Middle Pond.
