Tatton Cinema (frontage)
This is what remains of the Tatton Cinema on Gatley Road but now only the front facade still stands. Originally built in the 1930s,The cinema was the centrepiece of Gatley for seven decades but closed early in 2001 due to the increase in the numbers of multiplex cinemas; in particular, the nearby Parrs Wood Cinema complex.

Gatley Tatton
The Tatton Kinema opened on October 14, 1937 with Dorothy Lamour in "Jungle Princess". It had seating provided for 900 in the stalls and 300 in the circle and It included an 18 foot stage, six dressing rooms, and a restaurant. In 1971, the restaurant was converted to a 111-seat cinema known as Tatton Minor, opening on 4th February 1971 with "Airport". It had a fully automatic rear projection system. The original cinema became Tatton Major. On 17th November 1975, the Major closed and was twined with the larger stalls area becoming the 647 seat Tatton Major, the former circle the 247 seat Tatton Minor, and the restaurant cinema the Tatton Mini. It was an extremely successful cinema - one of the most profitable in the North West and was eventually bought by Apollo Cinemas chain who renamed it Apollo Cinema 1, 2, & 3. It closed around 2000 after the mulitplex at Parrs Wood captured most of its custom. All but the front façade, was demolished, and flats constructed behind.

The apartments at the rear are run by the Viaduct Housing Partnership https://www.viaducthousing.com/find-a-home/homes-to-buy/shared-ownership/tatton-cinema-apartments-in-gatley/ under a shared ownership agreement. A co-op store occupies most of the ground floor. A restaurant is also on the site.
