Former Barnes Convalescent Hospital, Cheadle
The former Barnes Hospital in Cheadle is Grade II listed. The building, completed in 1875, is a noted example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture and a prominent landmark, sitting on a mount overlooking the surrounding roads. The hospital closed in 1999, and although the building was promptly listed to protect it from demolition, it became derelict. The former hospital building has now been converted into flats and is at the centre of a new housing development called Barnes Village.
