Goyt Mill
Cotton spinning mill with large engine house for a Carel (Belgium) engine. Shame it is without chimney. The rope race has apparently been converted to a climbing wall. This view well captures the side away from the canal.

Goyt Mill, Marple
Cotton spinning mill with large engine house for a Carel (Belgium) engine. Shame it is without chimney. The rope race has apparently been converted to a climbing wall. This view well captures the large projecting engine house. It would appear this was designed to be enlarged to a double mill but, like several others, this was not executed.

Goyt Mill, Marple
Cotton spinning mill built 1905 with a large engine house for a Carel (Belgium) engine. Shame it is without chimney. The rope race has apparently been converted to a climbing wall. This view includes the large projecting engine house on the left. It would appear this was designed to be enlarged to a double mill but, like several others, this was not executed. Now in multiple occupancy.

This monochrome view taken from a former working narrowboat has an almost timeless aura. Only the proliferation of cellphone aerials indicate that this view dates from the 21st century.

Goyt Mill
Goyt Mill built 1905 was one of the later cotton mills to be constructed; it was used for its original purpose up until closure in 1960. After standing empty for several years the building was used for the manufacture of plastic foams until 1981 when it was divided into smaller units and let to various companies.http://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/displayimage.php?album=25&pid=7356
