House at Brick Bridge, Peak Forest Canal
Approaching Marple; this is a roving bridge, or turnover bridge on a canal, which was designed to allow the horse pulling a narrowboat to change sides, without having to unhitch the horse from the boat. Look out for grooves in the old stonework of canal bridges, where the towing ropes have worn the stone.
