Romiley First World War Memorial
The war memorial built by Willoughby Wilde & Sons of Hyde is set back off Stockport Road. It consists of a Latin cross on a plinth, inscribed 1914-1919. An engaved plaque lists the names of 65 men. For a list of the 65 names engraved thereon see Carl's Cam http://www.carlscam.com/romiley/rommem.htm A second plaque reads: "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
